Ladder Safety

Length

1.5 hours
 

  • Part of the implementation of an effective workplace ladder safety program
  • All workers who work with ladders should be trained in their correct usage
  • Understanding the type, set-up and use of a ladder can reduce the risk of falls from ladders, resulting injuries, and lost work time
  • Reduce the risk of non-compliance penalties

Training

Worker Awareness Training

Length

1.5 hours

 

  • Required for all workers under Ontario Regulation 297/13, Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training
  • Provides an overview of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Equips workers with general understanding of basic rights and responsibilities in the workplace under the OHSA
  • Heightens awareness of basic workplace health and safety issues

All employers must ensure workers complete, or have completed, an awareness training program that meets the regulatory requirements.

Training

Supervisor Awareness Training

Length

1.5 hours
 

  • Required for all supervisors under Ontario Regulation 297/13, Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training
  • Provides a general understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Increases a supervisor’s knowledge of basic rights and responsibilities in the workplace under the OHSA
  • Heightens awareness of basic workplace health and safety issues

All employers must ensure supervisors complete, or have completed, an awareness training program that meets the regulatory requirements.

Training

Forklift or Pallet Truck Training

Length

4-6 hours
 

Ontario’s regulations state that workers who operate lifting devices must be ‘ompetent’. A competent person is defined as someone who is qualified because of his/her training, is familiar with health and safety laws and is knowledgable of the hazards of the work.

  • Training program provides classroom and hands-on knowledge they required to operate the vehicle competently
  • Based on CSA standard B335-15 Safety Standard for Lift Trucks
  • Successful trainees will receive a wallet card and/or wall certificate valid for three years from the date of completion

Training

Aerial Work Platform (Scissor Lift / Man Lift)

Length

4-6 hours
 

  • Trains operators, whether new or experienced, in the principles of aerial platform work
  • Teaches the fundamentals of safe operating procedures, with the goal of reducing risks related to straight telescoping, articulating, and scissor lift aerial platforms
  • Successful participants will gain an understanding of the hazards associated with operating an elevated work platform
  • This course was developed to comply with the requirements for theory training as outlined in both CSA standards B354.2 and B354.4 as well as ANSI standards A92.5 and A92.6
  • Successful trainees will receive a wallet card and/or wall certificate valid for three years from the date of completion

Fall Protection

Length

3 hours in-class, 1 hour practical
 

  • For industrial work environments
  • Provides valuable information and safety fundamentals for working at heights
  • Course should be completed by anyone working on an Aerial Work Platform or anyone exposed to hazard of falling from height of 3 meters or higher

Biohazard Awareness and Clean-up

Length

2 hours
 

  • Mould, sewer back-ups, crime scene remediation
  • Specifically developed for those who clean-up or work with bodily fluids, human waste, or mould (health care workers, crime scene clean-up, disaster remediation)
  • This course has been developed to ensure that your staff is fully aware of the hazards of working with or around bio-hazardous materials
  • Participants are instructed in the identification of, and proper handling and disposal of bio-hazardous materials
  • Includes consideration of safe procedures and correct equipment for those who are involved in housekeeping, janitorial, trauma clean-up, crime scene clean-up or mould removal and decontamination.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)

Length

2 hours
 

  • Provides participants with the knowledge to properly prepare, transport and receive transported dangerous goods
  • TDG Regulations prescribe safety standards, shipping requirements, and a means of communicating the nature and level of danger associated with chemicals in transport
  • TDG Clear Language Regulations came into effect on August 15, 2002 and applies to all modes of transport (i.e. road, rail, marine and air) in Canada
  • Successful learners will receive a certificate valid for 36 months from date of completion

Workplace Violence and Harassment

Length

  • Provides an overview of the requirements of the section of the Occupational Health and Safety Act regarding the development of workplace violence and harassment policies and procedures
  • Learners will consider case studies and sample polices and procedures in order to illustrate how to comply with this law
  • Ministry of Labour Code of Practice to address Workplace Harassment and how this practice can benefit your workplace

Accident Investigations

Do accidents just happen, or is there something that could be done to prevent them? If the same types of accidents continue to occur in the workplace, can such events really be called accidents?

This course teaches management, supervisors, or joint health and safety committee members how to properly and effectively investigate accidents. We will identify and address the root causes of why accident happen.
